Tonight on The Stevetendo Show, we’re taking a short break from Mario Kart World to dive into another Super Mario adventure. While I’ve played Super Mario Galaxy before on the show, I haven’t yet tackled its sequel—until now! That changes tonight as we kick off a brand new Super Mario Galaxy 2 playthrough.
I have fond memories of Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii and remember really enjoying its sequel, too, although I don’t recall ever beating Galaxy 2. The first Mario Galaxy title took Mario into space and introduced 3D platforming with gravity-defying mechanics. The second game expanded on that formula with exciting new power-ups and even brought our favorite green dinosaur, Yoshi, into the cosmic mix.
Both Mario Galaxy games have received the “Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword” treatment, meaning they’ve been ported to the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 with modified controls for players who prefer not to use motion controls—a feature that some gamers have found frustrating in the original Wii versions.
