Avoid Missed Connections with The Connectorbook’s Web Tool

Connectors are both wonderful and terrible. They’re wonderful because splicing wires every time you need to disassemble something is incredibly annoying. However, they can also be terrible when you find yourself stuck with just a male or a female connector and need to track down the exact matching part.

We’ve all been there—growing increasingly frustrated as we pour over the DigiKey catalog (or whatever local equivalent you use), trying to figure out what the heck we’re dealing with. That’s exactly why [Davide Andrea]’s *The Connectorbook* exists—and even better, the free web service they offer called Identiconn.

While the tool isn’t brand new—the Wayback Machine shows snapshots dating back to 2021—it’s still very much worth highlighting. Identiconn offers a “quick pick” option that lets you narrow down connectors visually with photos. If you want to get specific, there are dozens of filters to help you find your exact part.

You can filter based on everything from the pitch and geometry of the connectors, to termination style, attachments, latches, and more. Although we can’t guarantee the database is fully exhaustive, it certainly looks extensive. Using this tool is going to be far less exhausting than endlessly scrolling through catalogs, hoping that a particular vendor or manufacturer lists the matching part you need.
