Gardai in County Donegal have seized 14 dogs after discovering them living in “shocking conditions.” The animals were found during a search at a property in West Donegal, carried out by Gardai from Glenties Garda Station on Friday. This operation was in response to concerns raised under the Animal Health & Welfare Act.

According to Gardai, the dogs were confined to rusted crates and forced to live in their own filth. Images captured during the rescue reveal the animals—all small breeds—in a severely dirty and ungroomed state.

Currently, Gardai are working closely with the ISPCA to ensure the dogs receive proper care. A spokesperson confirmed that all fourteen dogs are receiving necessary veterinary attention and will subsequently be handed over to the ISPCA for further care.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing, Gardai added. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
