**Ten Thousand March in London Demanding ‘Make Them Pay’ for Climate Justice and Social Fairness**
*London, UK* — Ten thousand people marched peacefully through central London today for the **Make Them Pay** rally, demanding the UK government tax the super-rich, protect workers instead of billionaires, and hold polluters accountable.
The mobilisation was backed by more than 60 organisations, including notable groups such as Oxfam, War on Want, Unite, Green New Deal Rising, and Patriotic Millionaires. This powerful demonstration comes just days after former US President Donald Trump’s visit to the UK and a far-right march in London.
Demonstrators stressed that, in stark contrast to the divisive politics rooted in hate and fear, today’s rally showcased the power of solidarity and people power. Unions, migrant justice groups, parents, climate activists, and anti-war campaigners united in a call for real solutions to soaring bills and the climate crisis.
The march was part of **Draw The Line**, a global week of action featuring more than 600 events in 97 countries—from Berlin to New York, Johannesburg to Manila. These actions are building towards a major carnival-style mobilisation scheduled for Paris on 28 September. Together, these mobilisations demand an end to fossil fuels, a just transition, and true climate justice.

**Matilda Borgstrom**, UK Campaigner at 350.org, said:
“Today in London, we drew the line — between ordinary people struggling with rising bills and worsening climate chaos, and billionaires and polluters who profit while the government protects them. Rachel Reeves now faces a clear choice as she prepares the Autumn Budget: will she stand with the people, or with the super-rich? It is time to tax their billions to fund climate action, rebuild public services, and create a fairer future.”
The **Make Them Pay** rally follows a creative stunt earlier this week at the UK Treasury, where activists transformed the steps into a grotesque VIP nightclub full of billionaires and fossil fuel bosses. This symbolic act highlighted the government’s cosy relationship with the super-rich while ordinary people continue to suffer.
With **COP30** in Brazil just six weeks away, organisers say today’s mobilisation demonstrates that demands to tax the super-rich and hold polluters accountable are growing louder across the globe.
