An Israeli tourist with ties to the IDF suffered a brain bleed on Monday after a hate-filled stranger assaulted him in Manhattan, police said.

Rami Glikstein, 59, who was visiting from Jerusalem, was on his way to Mr. Broadway, a well-known kosher deli on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue, around 12:40 p.m. when the incident occurred. According to police sources and Glikstein’s own Facebook post, a complete stranger approached him and snarled, “What the f–k is your religion?”

The antisemitic attacker, dressed entirely in black, grabbed Glikstein’s yarmulke, tossed it to the ground, and stepped on it before walking away, authorities and witnesses reported. However, the assailant was not finished. Moments later, he turned back and punched Glikstein in the face, causing him to fall to the ground.

Jewish outlet Ynet Global described Glikstein as an Israeli educator and lecturer in the IDF. The attack left him with cuts and bruising on his face, as well as internal brain bleeding. He was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital for treatment.

Despite the assault, Glikstein remains determined not to let the hate-fueled attack interfere with his plans. In a post written in Hebrew, he stated, “The attacker prevented me from entering the restaurant. I won’t let him and his intellect win. This evening I’ll be back there despite my injury.” He also shared a photo of himself lying in a hospital bed with a bandage on his forehead.

As of Tuesday afternoon, no arrests had been made in connection with the assault.
