Sid and Nancy, Gomez and Morticia, Vincent and Mia, Shrek and Fiona. Basically, the possibilities are endless when it comes to classic Halloween couples’ costumes. And by the time spooky season rolls around each year, there are also countless of-the-moment ideas to rip from pop culture for a fresh—but hopefully still identifiable—take on dressing up.
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, for instance, invoked Love Island singles on the Oct. 31 episode of *Live! With Kelly and Mark*. The long-married duo leaned into the show du jour but kept it safe for work by donning T-shirts with respective bikini and muscle-bound illustrations rather than actual skimpy beachwear.
Some couples draw inspiration from classic films—Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. have channeled duos from *Dirty Dancing*, *Back to the Future*, and *The Royal Tenenbaums*. Meanwhile, some celebrities can’t help but be inspired by each other. For example, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka were dead ringers for the Olsen twins in 2019, while Ciara and Russell Wilson went “Ape S–t” as Beyoncé and Jay-Z.
It’s also sweet that Heidi Klum found a mate as into All Hallows’ Eve as she is, going incognito with husband Tom Kaulitz as Fiona and Shrek in 2018. But that was low-maintenance compared to last year, when they both went as E.T. (as in, “phone home”) to Klum’s annual Halloween bash in 2024.
“It took one year to get ready,” the *Project Runway* host told E! News at the party. On the day of, “We started at 10 a.m. this morning. We just got ready, we just came down.”
So, you know what Klum and Kaulitz are doing right now. Pass the time until it gets dark—and maybe get some last-minute inspiration—by checking out the best celebrity couple Halloween costumes of all time!
