Harvard University Police have released photos of suspects they wish to question in connection with an explosion at Harvard Medical School. The grainy images were captured on surveillance cameras and show two unidentified individuals fleeing the building, according to NBC News.

The incident occurred early in the morning when a fire alarm alerted authorities to the situation at 2:48 a.m. at the Goldenson Building on the Harvard campus. In a news release cited by USA Today, police stated, “The officer attempted to stop the individuals before proceeding to the floor where the alarm had been triggered.”

Upon responding to the alarm, officers discovered that an explosion had occurred on the fourth floor of the building, as reported by CBS News. Authorities are currently treating the explosion as an intentional act. The FBI has stated, “We’re assisting our partners at the Harvard University Police Department and we’re going to decline further comment at this time. We’ll refer to the Harvard University Police Department.”

While the type of device responsible for the explosion has not been disclosed, a thorough sweep of the building found no additional explosive devices, according to Boston.com.

The individuals sought by police were seen wearing sweatshirts and face coverings. At this time, no motive has been released. The Boston Fire Department Arson Unit responded to the scene, and thankfully, no injuries have been reported.

### What is the Goldenson Building?

The Goldenson Building is named after Leonard H. Goldenson (1905–1999), president of the American Broadcasting Company, and his wife Isabelle Charlotte Weinstein Goldenson (1921–2005), co-founders of United Cerebral Palsy, a charitable organization. According to a Harvard Planning website, “The Goldenson Building was designed for Harvard Medical School by Shepley, Rutan and Coolidge of Boston and opened in 1906.”
