The MLB free agency signing period will begin on Nov. 6 at 5 p.m. ET. There are some big-name players set to hit the open market, and with all of the record-breaking contracts handed out in recent years, some huge deals are sure to be agreed upon. This is especially true given the Los Angeles Dodgers have been MLB’s biggest spenders recently, rewarded with back-to-back World Series victories.
ClutchPoints already looked at the best MLB free agents at each position, but here is a gallery showcasing the 10 best free agents overall heading into the offseason.

### 10. Pete Alonso, New York Mets, 1B
Aging first basemen often aren’t valued highly in free agency, but Pete Alonso has been too good for too long to be overlooked this offseason.
Alonso broke onto the scene as a rookie with the Mets in 2019 by blasting 53 home runs. While he hasn’t replicated that one-season long-ball total since, he remains one of baseball’s best power threats.
He’s also adding to his game, coming off a career-high batting average of .272. Alonso is one of the most reliable players in the league in terms of durability, having played all 162 games in each of the past two seasons.
That said, Alonso is somewhat of a free agent risk due to surpassing the age of 30. If his power starts to decline, he doesn’t offer much else. However, his improved ability to get on base should help him secure a lucrative contract this offseason.

### 9. Jack Flaherty, Detroit Tigers, SP (Can Opt Out)
Jack Flaherty has played for four different teams over the past three seasons, including two stints with the Detroit Tigers. The starting pitcher holds a $20 million option for next season, which he could decline, making him a free agent once again.
While Flaherty isn’t an ace, he is a solid second or third starter option. He was instrumental in the Tigers being the winningest team in baseball for much of the 2025 season before their late-season collapse.

### 8. Ranger Suarez, Philadelphia Phillies, SP
The Philadelphia Phillies risk being hit hardest by free agency this offseason. J.T. Realmuto narrowly missed this list, and their best power hitter will be discussed later. Ranger Suarez is also set to enter free agency.
Suarez doesn’t have overpowering velocity but maintains a low ERA every season thanks to a variety of reliable pitches and excellent command. He’s a valuable asset for any pitching staff looking for consistency.
—
### 7. Eugenio Suarez, Seattle Mariners, 3B
Eugenio Suarez had a fantastic contract year. Thanks to his home run production, he was highly sought after at the trade deadline before being traded to the Seattle Mariners. Now, he will be a hot commodity in free agency.
Suarez finished the year with 49 home runs, the fifth most in baseball. However, his defense has declined, so designated hitter duties might be in his future. At 34 years old, teams shouldn’t expect him to replicate this season’s power numbers.
His high strikeout rate is also a concern, but Suarez’s power surge has certainly earned him a significant offseason payday.

### 6. Kyle Schwarber, Philadelphia Phillies, DH
Year after year, Kyle Schwarber ranks among the league leaders in home runs and walks. His elite plate discipline often results in baseballs flying over the outfield wall.
The three-time All-Star led the National League with 56 home runs and 132 RBIs this season. Though his days in the outfield are likely over, Schwarber remains a popular figure in Philadelphia and could very well return.
With the Phillies’ core aging and yet to capture a World Series title, an organizational change would likely be the only barrier to a reunion with Schwarber.

### 5. Dylan Cease, San Diego Padres, SP
Dylan Cease’s control can be erratic at times, leading to a high walk rate, but when he’s on his game, he’s nearly unhittable. Cease has twice finished inside the top five in Cy Young voting but has also led his league in walks.
Coming off a somewhat down year with the Padres, Cease could be the next star player the team parts ways with due to financial constraints, a pattern the Padres have established in recent years.

### 4. Framber Valdez, Houston Astros, SP
The Houston Astros have enjoyed a remarkable run, reaching at least the ALCS in seven of the last nine seasons. Framber Valdez has been a key piece throughout, often serving as the team’s first or second pitching option.
A two-time All-Star known for his ability to pitch complete games, Valdez does have some attitude concerns. Most notably, he may have intentionally thrown at his catcher, Cesar Salazar, during the past season—an incident that marked a turning point in the Astros’ campaign.
These factors could influence whether Valdez remains with Houston or explores free agency.

### 3. Alex Bregman, Boston Red Sox, 3B
Last offseason, Boston signed Alex Bregman to a three-year contract to replace Rafael Devers at third base. This move led to Devers being traded to the San Francisco Giants.
Now, Boston needs to ensure this decision pays off. Bregman opted out of the final two years of his contract seeking an even bigger payday.
Having signed late before last season, expect Bregman to be one of the first top free agents taken off the market this offseason.

### 2. Bo Bichette, Toronto Blue Jays, SS
Bo Bichette was leading the American League in hits before a late-season injury sidelined him. His posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injury cost him most of the playoffs, but he returned in time to help the Blue Jays nearly capture the World Series title.
After recently signing Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to a massive deal, Toronto is expected to offer Bichette a similarly significant contract.
Although Bichette’s defense at shortstop is somewhat underwhelming, he played second base in the World Series, which could become his long-term position.

### 1. Kyle Tucker, Chicago Cubs, OF
The Chicago Cubs acquired Kyle Tucker last offseason, and now he is hitting the open market as a free agent.
Tucker is clearly one of baseball’s best players, though injuries have impacted him in each of the past two seasons. This injury history may give some teams pause.
Despite that, Tucker will demand a huge contract. If he can return to full health and form, he has the potential to be the biggest boost to a signing team among all 2025-26 MLB free agents.
