How to Get and Use Free Loadout Augments in ARC Raiders
Free Loadout Augments are one of the best mechanics in ARC Raiders, complementing the game’s already impressive array of systems. They serve a purpose beyond just getting you into a raid quickly, ensuring that you always have something to strive toward, even if you have almost nothing left.
True to their name, you receive a Free Loadout Augment every time you run a raid using a Free Loadout. To do this, select the Free Loadout option at the top of your Ready Up screen. When chosen, all your custom gear will be sent to your Inventory and replaced with a random, low-quality set of gear with limited resources.
Keep in mind, you can’t change your Augments during a raid. This means you’ll be stuck with a smaller inventory and weaker shields until you successfully complete the raid and extract.
It’s important to note that a Free Loadout Augment can only be used once you extract it back to Speranza. After extraction, you can go into your Inventory and move the Augment to your stash, replacing it with any other Augment you currently have.
If you don’t have any other Augments, don’t worry. With a Free Loadout Augment in your possession, you can visit the Lance Trader and swap it for one of three green-rarity Augments. For most early-game activities, the Loot Augment is recommended. Although it offers limited protection, it provides the most backpack space, allowing you to build up a substantial collection of loot items—assuming you survive the raid.
Unfortunately, there’s no alternative way to obtain Free Loadout Augments. ARC Raiders does not feature a player-to-player market, so purchasing them isn’t possible. Additionally, they cannot be crafted. However, this isn’t a major downside; if you fail a raid, getting back in is fast—and, as the name suggests, free.
