Crusader Kings 3 continues to receive plenty of interesting content since Paradox Interactive released it in 2020, and the latest update brings even more to the table. The grand strategy map now opens up to most of Asia, introducing Chinese, Japanese, and Southeast Asian content for players to explore. Even this far into the game’s lifecycle, Paradox remains dedicated to delivering new experiences for fans eager to expand their Crusader Kings 3 campaigns.
I recently had the opportunity to speak with QA Manager Riad Deneche and Producer Lucia Dzediti about how the game has evolved and how the team keeps the base game fresh, even as new expansions are introduced.
**All Under Heaven** has been a long time coming. Since Crusader Kings 3 launched in 2020, the Asian continent has lingered on the periphery of the game’s campaigns. Previously, we only had features like The Silk Road economic storyline to hint at the region’s rich history. Now, All Under Heaven finally addresses fans’ persistent requests by including Asian politics and leaders, featuring a wealth of famous rulers from China and across the Asian continent.
Paradox has taken great pride in fulfilling this request. The team committed to thorough historical research to ensure the storylines and characters of far Eastern leaders were depicted with accuracy and respect. According to Deneche and Dzediti, exploring these narratives was one of the most enjoyable parts of the development process.
Importantly, All Under Heaven does not leave out players interested in Western civilizations. The Silk Road storylines have been expanded, and additional content ensures that the politics and stories of All Under Heaven can influence Western campaigns, should players choose to incorporate them.
Crusader Kings 3’s latest expansion offers a deeper, more interconnected world, promising exciting new campaigns for both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
