**The Dallas Cowboys Mourn the Passing of Marshawn Kneeland**
*November 6, 2025 | By RJ Ochoa*
It is with deep sorrow that the Dallas Cowboys announced the tragic passing of Marshawn Kneeland. The talented athlete, aged just 24, passed away on Thursday morning.
“It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning,” the organization stated. “Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family during this difficult time.”
Marshawn Kneeland was selected by the Cowboys in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, coming out of Western Michigan. In his second season, he had taken on a larger role within the team, showing great promise and dedication.
Both the Cowboys and Marshawn’s agent released statements confirming the heartbreaking news. His agent, Jonathan Perzley, expressed his grief:
> “I am shattered to confirm that my client and dearest friend Marshawn Kneeland passed away last night. I watched him fight his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a dream to becoming a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys. Marshawn poured his heart into every snap, every practice, and every moment on the field. Losing someone with his talent, spirit, and goodness is a pain I can hardly put into words.”
> “My heart aches for his family, teammates, and everyone who loved him. I hope they feel the support of the entire football community during this unimaginable time. I ask that you please give his loved ones the privacy and compassion they need as they grieve this tremendous loss.”
Marshawn’s role with the Cowboys had been growing steadily, and he had the vast majority of his career and life ahead of him. It is devastating to process such a loss so early in his life.
Cowboys coach Zimmer shared his thoughts:
> “He was a great person—eager to learn and determined to be great. He didn’t take any nonsense from anyone on the field. He studied hard and loved playing the game. Tough as nails. My last conversation with him was, ‘Keep being you. You’re going to have a great career.’”
Our thoughts and prayers are with Marshawn Kneeland’s family, friends, and teammates during this incredibly difficult time.
