Italy Climbs to Fifth Place in UEFA Coefficient Ranking, Securing Two Extra Champions League Spots

Italy has made a significant leap in the UEFA Coefficient Ranking, climbing to fifth place following the latest round of European matches played between Tuesday and Thursday. This rise awards Italy two additional Champions League places for the upcoming season.

Strong Performances from Serie A Clubs in Europe

Italian clubs delivered notable results this week. Inter and Atalanta secured victories in the Champions League, while Roma triumphed in the Europa League. However, Juventus and Napoli in the Champions League, along with Bologna in the Europa League, were held to home draws by Sporting CP, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Brann, respectively. Fiorentina suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat away to Mainz in the Conference League.

Impressive Rise in the Rankings

Just two weeks ago, Italy was ranked eighth in the UEFA Coefficient standings. Thanks to these recent results, Italy has climbed three positions to fifth place. The gap between Italy and the second spot has also slightly decreased, narrowing from 743 points to 715 points.

Current UEFA Coefficient Standings

1. England – 9.722 points
2. Germany – 8.857 points
3. Spain – 8.375 points
4. Cyprus – 8.250 points
5. Italy – 8.142 points
6. Portugal – 8.000 points
7. Poland – 7.875 points
8. Denmark – 7.625 points
9. France – 6.642 points
10. Turkiye – 6.200 points

The stakes are high as the top two countries at the end of the season will earn an extra Champions League spot for the 2026-27 campaign. Currently, England and Germany hold these top two positions, but Italy’s recent surge demonstrates that the competition remains intense.
