The Mega Millions jackpot has now reached an estimated $843 million for Friday night’s drawing, making it the eighth largest jackpot in the history of the game, officials said.
The winning numbers for Friday’s drawing are: 48, 70, 23, 21, 16, and the Mega Ball is 5.
Friday’s drawing marks the 38th consecutive drawing since the jackpot was last won, which occurred in Virginia on June 27. This streak is now the longest period without a jackpot winner since the game began in 2002, according to a statement from Mega Millions. The previous record of 37 drawings was set on January 22, 2021, when a $1.05 billion jackpot was won in Michigan.
“While the jackpot remains elusive, the number of winners—and total prizes won—continues to grow,” lottery officials said. “Through this jackpot run to date, there have been almost 11.7 million winning tickets at all prize levels, with total prizes exceeding $274 million, thanks to significant enhancements in the lower-tier prizes after the game changed last April.”
Additionally, there have been 256 third-tier winning tickets so far during this run, with prizes ranging from $20,000 to $100,000, Mega Millions officials added.
Before the June 27 Virginia jackpot win of $348 million, other jackpots awarded this year included:
– $112 million in Ohio on April 18
– $349 million in Illinois on March 25
– $112 million in Arizona on January 17
Although no jackpot was claimed in Tuesday’s drawing, officials remind players that there is still plenty of money to be won with other prize tiers. “In the November 4 drawing alone, there were 606,046 winning tickets across all prize tiers, resulting in total nationwide winnings of more than $12.2 million,” they said.
The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot remain 1 in 290,472,336, according to Mega Millions.
