With just a little over two months to go before their rumored Unpacked event, you might expect to already know everything about the highly anticipated sequels to the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra. However, a lot of uncertainty and confusion continue to surround the Galaxy S26 (also known as the S26 Pro), the S26 Plus (which many insiders insisted didn’t exist until quite recently), and even the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Here are the so-called “official and accurate” measurements for the Galaxy S26 and S26 Ultra— or are they?
– Galaxy S26: 149.4 x 71.5 x 6.9mm
– Galaxy S26 Ultra: 163.6 x 78.1 x 7.9mm
According to the typically reliable leaker Ice Universe (aka @UniverseIce, also known as PhoneArt on X), the “vanilla” S26 will be 0.3mm thinner, 2.5mm taller, and exactly 1mm wider than the base Galaxy S25.
But there’s a twist. The latest inside information from the equally trustworthy Steve Hemmerstoffer (aka @OnLeaks) and Android Headlines puts the Galaxy S26’s dimensions at 149.5 x 71.6 x 7.24mm. While the height and width are almost identical to Ice Universe’s numbers, the thickness is notably different—7.24mm compared to 6.9mm.
So, what explains the conflicting info?
Android Headlines claim Samsung revised the S26’s previously planned thickness, bumping it up from 6.96mm. If this newer figure is accurate, it’s likely the phone’s profile — including the camera bump — will also be slightly larger, increasing from 10.23mm to 10.44mm.
That said, Ice Universe remains adamant that his dimensions are “standard, official, and accurate,” so at this stage, all we can do is wait until the official reveal in January or February 2026 to see which source was right.

### Thinner or Thicker Galaxy S26?
Which would you prefer?
– **Thinner**
– **Thicker, if that means a bigger battery**
– **I don’t care much about the phone’s dimensions**
So far, the responses seem split evenly between wanting a thinner device and preferring a thicker one if it means better battery life.

### What About the Galaxy S26 Ultra?
As for the S26 Ultra, the numbers mentioned earlier remain uncontested — for now. However, if Samsung is truly making last-minute changes to the Galaxy S26, the same could happen to its bigger sibling. This might mean the S26 Ultra won’t end up being noticeably slimmer than its predecessor either. But, of course, that’s just speculation at this point.

### Ultra-Thin Is Out of Fashion?
That didn’t take long. Just a few months after both Apple and Samsung pushed ultra-slim devices as the future of smartphones, the Galaxy S26 Edge has reportedly been canceled or at least delayed. Meanwhile, the S25 Edge might soon be phased out, and Apple’s iPhone Air is reportedly struggling in sales as well.
Given this unexpected shift away from ultra-thin designs, I’m more inclined to believe the Galaxy S26 (formerly the S26 Pro) will measure over 7.2mm thick rather than under 7mm.
Hopefully, that thicker build means a bigger battery — ideally increasing the 4,000mAh cell in the 6.2-inch Galaxy S25 to help close the gap with competitors such as Google’s Pixel 10, which packs a 4,970mAh battery.
I think many of you would even prefer the S26 to be significantly thicker if it allows for a substantial battery upgrade. Unfortunately, the odds of that seem slim (pun intended).

### How Excited Should You Be About Samsung’s “Last-Minute Changes”?
“Excited” might not be the right word here. However, people who doubted the success of the Galaxy S25 Edge and didn’t understand the rumored S26 Pro branding will probably feel somewhat reassured now.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with a non-Pro Galaxy S26 that sports a design similar to its predecessor and doesn’t bring major camera changes. But if Samsung is indeed making a number of last-minute tweaks to its next flagship phones, maybe we should hold out hope for a better photography experience from the S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra.
Unlike previous Galaxy S series at this stage of the year, it almost feels like anything is still possible — and that’s a refreshing change. Stay tuned!
