Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is just days away from diving into the undersea world of Bikini Bottom. But Sega and Sonic Team aren’t stopping there—exciting plans for the game’s first season pass continue to unfold.
During Tuesday’s PlayStation State of Play Japan, several classic Sega characters were revealed as upcoming additions. Fans who have followed Sega for decades will recognize NiGHTS, the lead character from the Sega Saturn cult classic *NiGHTS Into Dreams*. NiGHTS will be hitting the tracks in his Dream Sleeper vehicle starting in December.
Following NiGHTS, AiAi from the *Super Monkey Ball* series will join the race with a January 2026 release. Then, Sonic’s comic book universe will expand the roster with Tangle and Whisper as playable characters, arriving in February 2026.
Best of all, all of these characters—NiGHTS, AiAi, Tangle, and Whisper—will be added to *Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds* for free upon their release.
As for premium content, the next part of the CrossWorlds Season Pass features none other than SpongeBob SquarePants. First revealed during June’s Kids’ Choice Awards, the SpongeBob pack brings SpongeBob and Patrick as racers, the iconic Patty Wagon vehicle, the Bikini Bottom Course, themed music tracks, and six fun emotes.
The SpongeBob pack now has an official release date: Wednesday, November 19, at 5:00 p.m. PT / 8:00 p.m. ET. Get ready to race with your favorite underwater pals very soon!
