SEATTLE (AP) — Jordan Eberle broke a tie at 7:21 of the third period and added an empty-net goal to lead the Seattle Kraken to a 5-3 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night.
Kaapo Kakko, Eeli Tolvanen, and Vince Dunn also scored for Seattle, with Dunn and Matty Beniers each recording two assists. Phillip Grubauer made 23 saves in relief of the injured Joey Daccord.
For Winnipeg, Mark Scheifele had a goal and an assist, while Alex Iafallo and Kyle Connor also found the back of the net. The Jets dropped to 1-4 on their six-game road trip. Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck stopped 13 shots in the loss. Scheifele and Connor remain tied for the team lead with 10 goals each.
Tolvanen tied the game at 3 with a one-timer from the right circle on a power play at 4:11 of the third period. Shortly after, Beniers set up Eberle near the crease for an easy deflection to give Seattle the lead.
With 1:55 remaining, Eberle sealed the victory by scoring his team-leading seventh goal into the empty net. This performance follows Eberle’s two-goal game on October 25th in Seattle’s 3-2 home win over Edmonton.
