The 3D format gained immense popularity among Indian audiences with the release of *Avatar* (2009). It received a further boost thanks to Vikram Bhatt’s *Haunted* (2011). Starring Mimoh Chakraborty and Tia Bajpai, the film became a sleeper hit owing to its captivating horror elements, intriguing plot, tight execution, memorable music, and, of course, the immersive 3D experience.
Now, Vikram Bhatt is back with *Haunted: Ghosts Of The Past*, which marks the return of Mimoh Chakraborty. This time, he is joined by Chetna Pande and other talented actors. The teaser for the film was released on September 3, with an initial theatrical release planned for November 21. However, the film’s release has been postponed to next year.
**Exclusive: Haunted Ghosts Of The Past Postponed Due to Reshoots**
In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Vikram Bhatt shared insights into the delay. He revealed that the release is now scheduled for **January 30, 2026**. According to the director, “My mother was very unwell since January. In September, she passed away. Due to this tragedy, I couldn’t oversee the amount of VFX work required.”
Moreover, Vikram Bhatt explained that after releasing the teaser, fans of the *Haunted* series expressed their desire for more scenes shot in real locations. “We have always been in the habit of listening to good advice. Hence, we adhered to the feedback and shot in actual locations. We have incorporated those shots into the film and are now ready to bring the film on January 30, 2026.”
He added, “We initially generated a lot of VFX plates for the backgrounds, but they didn’t look real enough. So, we went back and reshot a few scenes over 10-12 days in real locations.”
**Addressing Speculations About AI Usage**
There has been speculation among netizens regarding the use of AI in *Haunted: Ghosts Of The Past*. Vikram Bhatt clarified, “There was no AI involved. It was all VFX. The film is set in a strange new world which I wanted to create specifically. However, I realized that before watching the film, the audience wouldn’t understand the world being shown. So, many assumed it was just bad VFX (laughs). But it wasn’t — it was simply depicting a different world.”
When asked about the trailer release timeline, Vikram confirmed, “The trailer will be out next month.”
**Songs and the 3D Experience**
The songs of the first *Haunted* film left a lasting impression. When asked about the soundtrack for the sequel, Vikram Bhatt expressed optimism, saying, “Hopefully, we will be able to match the soundtrack of the first part, if not better it (smiles).”
No discussion about the *Haunted* series is complete without mentioning the 3D element. Vikram made an exciting claim, stating, “I can tell you that *Haunted: Ghosts Of The Past* will have the best 3D to date in Indian cinema. I just saw some 3D shots, and I was jumping with joy!”
Stay tuned for more updates on *Haunted: Ghosts Of The Past* as the new release date approaches.
