The 3D format gained immense popularity among Indian audiences with the release of *Avatar* (2009). This trend received an additional boost with Vikram Bhatt’s *Haunted* (2011), starring Mimoh Chakraborty and Tia Bajpai. The film became a sleeper hit, thanks to its gripping horror element, engaging plot, effective execution, memorable music, and of course, the innovative 3D experience.
Now, Vikram Bhatt is back with *Haunted Ghosts Of The Past*, which marks the return of Mimoh Chakraborty, joined this time by Chetna Pande and other talents. The teaser for the film was released on September 3, with an initial plan to unveil the movie in cinemas on November 21. However, the release has been postponed to next year.
Bollywood Hungama had an exclusive conversation with Vikram Bhatt to understand the reasons behind the delay.
**EXCLUSIVE: *Haunted Ghosts Of The Past* Postponed; Vikram Bhatt Reshoots 12 Days in Real Locations After Fan Demand; New Release Set for January 30, 2026**
Vikram Bhatt shared, “My mother was very unwell since January. Unfortunately, she passed away in September. Due to this tragedy, I couldn’t complete the required VFX work on time.”
He added, “After releasing the teaser, fans of the *Haunted* series expressed their dissatisfaction. They wanted more scenes shot in real locations. We have always valued our audience’s feedback, so we took their advice seriously and shot those scenes in actual locations. We’ve now incorporated those shots into the film, and we’re preparing to release it on January 30, 2026.”
Explaining further, Vikram said, “We initially generated a lot of VFX plates for the backgrounds, but they didn’t look realistic enough. That’s why we went back and shot several scenes over 10-12 days.”
There has also been speculation online regarding the use of AI in *Haunted Ghosts Of The Past*. Vikram clarified, “No AI was used. It’s all VFX. The film is set in a strange new world, which I created as per the story’s requirements. But before watching the film, audiences might not understand this world, so they assumed the VFX was poor (laughs). It wasn’t poor — it was just a different universe we wanted to portray.”
When asked about the trailer release, Vikram revealed, “The trailer will be out next month.”
### Songs and 3D Experience
The songs of *Haunted* were unforgettable. What can fans expect from the soundtrack of the sequel?
Vikram responded, “Hopefully, we will be able to match the soundtrack of the first film, if not surpass it (smiles).”
No discussion about the *Haunted* series is complete without mentioning its signature 3D element. Vikram Bhatt confidently stated, “I can tell you that *Haunted Ghosts Of The Past* will feature the best 3D ever seen in Indian cinema. I recently reviewed some 3D shots, and I was jumping with joy!”
