**Google Tasks for Android Adds Deadline Functionality**

The Google Tasks app for Android has finally received a much-needed update: deadline functionality. This new feature allows users to set a deadline date for their tasks, helping to better manage and prioritize to-dos.

However, at this time, you cannot set a specific deadline time—only the date is supported. This limitation was confirmed by Artem Russakovskii, founder of Android Police, and aligns with our own observations during testing.

A few months ago, we discovered that Google was testing deadline functionality within the Tasks app. This addition has been long overdue, and it’s great to see it now rolling out to users.

While Google Tasks currently lets you set notification times for individual tasks, having the ability to set a precise deadline time would be a valuable enhancement. For instance, receiving a notification a few hours before a task is due would provide ample time to complete it.

One notable improvement with this rollout is the ability to add a deadline date at the time of creating a task. Previously, based on our APK teardown from September, users had to create a task first and then edit it afterward to add a deadline. This initial limitation was likely due to the feature being in early development stages.

Overall, the addition of deadline dates is a positive step forward for the Google Tasks app, enhancing its usefulness for managing daily responsibilities.
