A former WWE champion recently discussed his role in Jon Moxley’s loss of the AEW World Championship at All In: Texas. The star was the one who provided the final assist to Hangman in dethroning the Purveyor of Violence. The champion in question is Swerve Strickland, a former NXT North American Champion in WWE, where he had a quiet run from 2019 to 2021. In AEW, the Mogul has become one of the company’s top babyfaces. At Full Gear 2025, the New Flavor made his highly anticipated return to the promotion after being out due to injury for months. At Full Gear, Strickland returned to save Hangman Page from Samoa Joe and the Opps right after the Cowboy lost his World Title to Joe in a brutal steel cage match. It is worth noting that this was the second time the Mogul came to Page’s aid, after helping him dethrone Moxley for the World Title at All In: Texas back in July. What makes things even more interesting is that before All In, Swerve and Page shared a mutual disdain for each other, but that seems to have changed now. Recently, Swerve shared details about his involvement at All In during an appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet. The Mogul said: “I don’t extend to the world title without him, but I also don’t lose that all in without him. So we kind of need each other. We hate each other, but we need each other. We also made each other better. People were talking about Hangman being done as a main eventer, as a World Champion in 2023. They were like, we got to look past Hangman, it’s Will Ospreay’s time now, because he just wasn’t there. Mentally, he just wasn’t there. I broke him, but I also did it intentionally, because I know Hangman is that guy.” [H/T: Chris Van Vliet] Swerve Strickland sent a two-word message following AEW Full Gear return Swerve Strickland’s last appearance in an AEW ring was at Forbidden Door 2025 in August. At that event, the Mogul unsuccessfully challenged Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada for his title. Now, four months later, the former AEW World Champion returned at Full Gear and stood tall in the ring with Hangman Page. Shortly after the event, Strickland also posted a two-word message on X to mark his return. “Hit different,” wrote Swerve Check out his post on X here. It will be interesting to see what All Elite Wrestling will have planned for Swerve on the upcoming episode of Dynamite.
