CULLMAN, Ala. Conner, an Aussie mix around 10 months old, is The Cullman Tribune Pet of the Weel. He has quickly become a shelter favorite thanks to his easygoing personality and the way he makes every moment feel light. Medium in energy and steady in temperament, this good boy enjoys the company of everyone he meets. Conner learns fast and stays focused, especially when he gets the chance to take on the shelter’s hurdles. Staff say he approaches new challenges with a happy confidence that makes him an ideal candidate for a therapy, companion or hiking dog. He is also known for his signature move: a casual side sit. He starts with perfect posture, then shifts his hips into a relaxed, lopsided position that seems to capture his whole spirit. Nothing about him feels overly serious. His laidback nature is simply a pleasure. “I just love this precious guy,” one caregiver shared. Conner’s adoption fee is $130, which includes neutering, vaccines, microchip, wormer and a general vet exam. Those interested in meeting Conner or any of the dogs and cats up for adoption can visit the Cullman County Animal Shelter at 935 Convent Road NE. It’s open Monday through Friday, from 9 a. m.-3: 30 p. m. Many pets are also available off-site through partner foster homes, and staff can assist with arranging meet-and-greets for animals not on the main adoption floor. To explore the full list of adoptable pets, on and off the list, visit the shelter’s Petfinder page or stop by in person to learn more about the animals waiting for their forever families.
