21 Pictures of Cats Hiding From the Cold in Full Hibernation Mode

When the cold hits, cats don’t just get cozy. They enter full hibernation mood. One minute they’re walking around like normal, and the next they’ve disappeared, swallowed by a pile of blankets that somehow transforms into a perfectly cat-shaped bundle. They don’t politely lie under the covers, either. They digging in, kneading, and wriggling until they’ve created the warmest, softest cave known to humankind. Once they’ve settled into their blanket fort, good luck getting them out. You can shake the treat bag, open a can, or try gently lifting a corner to see if they’re still breathing, but nothing interrupts the sacred winter nap. Occasionally, you’ll see a little nose, a paw, or an ear poking out like a furry periscope checking if the world is still cold. If the temperature hasn’t improved, they burrow right back in without hesitation. Cats take hibernation personally, and honestly, they might be onto something. Why face frosty floors and chilly windowsills when you can snooze through winter wrapped like a purrito? Some days, we’d all rather hide in a blanket cave, too.

‘I guess all cats like to sit in your pants’: Lonesome bobcat kitten gets rescued, and her ameowzing caretaker captures the hilarious process of rehabilitating her before she gets released into the wild

We don’t know how many times we have said this before, but one of our dreams, as the cat people that we are, is to get to experience other cats big cats. Big cats are just like house cats, everyone knows that. And yet, unfortunately, we can’t actually treat them like house cats. We can try, but that will probably end up with us getting on the news for all the wrong reasons. And we can be jealous of all those people online who have dedicated their whole lives to living this dream, like the man who became part of a lion pride or the other guy who raised a cheetah cub who still recognizes him as a friend years and years later. But all of those things are either unrealistic for us or dangerous. What we possibly could do is what the person in this story did. Rehabilitating a rescued bobcat, one who needed a temporary home, a place to be safe and happy until he’s capable of being released back into the wild. Now, that is something that we would love to do.
