Tisca Chopra’s directorial debut Saali Mohabbat, starring Radhika Apte, Divyenndu Sharma, Anurag Kashyap, to stream on ZEE5

After an impressive run at various film festivals, Saali Mohabbat the highly anticipated ZEE5 Original Film directed by Tisca Chopra and starring Radhika Apte, Divyenndu Sharma, Anurag Kashyap, Anshumaan Pushkar, Sauraseni Maitra and Sharat Saxena- is set to premiere exclusively on ZEE5 later this year. Produced by Jio Studios and Manish Malhotra’s Stage5 Production, the thriller-drama marks the celebrated designer’s digital debut as a producer seamlessly blending his signature visual finesse with a deeply emotional narrative. This also marks ZEE5’s fourth collaboration with Jio Studios, following the successes of Hisaab Barabar and Mrs., starring R. Madhavan and Sanya Malhotra respectively, and the recent Bhagwat featuring Arshad Warsi and Jitendra Kumar. The film also sees Radhika Apte returning to the platform after her much-loved performance in Mrs. Undercover. After premiering at IFFI last year and the Chicago South Asian Film Festival this year, Saali Mohabbat invites viewers into a world where love blurs into obsession and buried secrets slowly unravel. The film follows Smita (Radhika Apte), a small-town housewife whose seemingly ordinary life descends into a labyrinth of infidelity, deceit, and moral ambiguity. What begins as a tale of domestic routine soon unfolds into a gripping exploration of betrayal, revenge, and the thin, treacherous line between truth and illusion. Talking about the film, Kaveri Das, Business Head, Hindi ZEE5 said, “At ZEE5, our constant endeavour is to bring stories that challenge conventions and connect with audiences on a deeper level. With Saali Mohabbat, we’re thrilled to present a thriller that’s not just about suspense, but about the intricate emotions that drive human choices. Collaborating once again with Jio Studios and working with creative powerhouses like Manish Malhotra and Tisca Chopra has been incredibly rewarding. And of course, having Radhika Apte return to the platform with a role that showcases her depth and range makes this project even more special.”Producer Jyoti Deshpande, President Jio Studios (Media & Content Business, RIL) said, “At Jio Studios, our constant pursuit is to back bold voices and powerful stories that transcend genres. Saali Mohabbat is a shining example of that vision an ingeniously crafted thriller that marks our proud collaboration with producer Manish Malhotra, who seamlessly extends his creative brilliance from fashion to film. After its successful reception at IFFI, we are delighted that Saali Mohabbat has found a home on ZEE5, where our stories have consistently found a wide and appreciative audience. We look forward to viewers across the globe experiencing Tisca Chopra’s riveting directorial debut.”Producer Manish Malhotra said, “Stage5 Production was founded with a clear intention to back stories that are original in thought and strong in craft. In that same spirit, I’m pleased to announce our second film, Saali Mohabbat a layered, character-driven drama that examines power, silence, and the invisible cost of human choices. This project has been built with deep involvement at every stage from development to the final cut because at Stage5, we don’t just produce films, we stand by them. Every creative and strategic decision has been shaped with purpose, rigour, and responsibility. We’ve had the privilege of working with an ensemble of exceptionally talented actors, each bringing a distinct rhythm, restraint, and truth to their characters the kind of performances that don’t speak loudly but linger. Jyoti Deshpande and Jio Studios have backed the film from day one with clarity and long-term vision and at the core of this vision stands Tisca Chopra whose script and direction bring structure, nuance, and an assured creative voice to the story. We’re also proud to partner with ZEE5, a platform that has consistently championed courageous, content-forward cinema. Their support ensures the film will reach audiences across geographies, languages, and cultures exactly the kind of journey this story deserves. Saali Mohabbat is the result of shared intent, aligned effort, and a team that values storytelling over spectacle.”Director Tisca Chopra shared, “With Saali Mohabbat, I wanted to tell a story that feels both intimate and unsettling one that captures a woman’s gaze in a world full of hidden fractures and polite façades. I’ve always been fascinated by the quiet tensions that exist beneath the surface of relationships the invisible power struggles, the unspoken expectations, the ways in which love can transform into something darker. This film explores those fragile boundaries of trust, betrayal, and identity but through a deeply female perspective. It’s about what happens when a woman stops conforming to the emotional roles expected of her and begins to own her truth, no matter how uncomfortable that truth might be. I feel incredibly fortunate to have had a producer as creative and instinctive as Manish Malhotra, and his production house Stage5. Manish’s response just three minutes into the narration gave me the conviction that this story had found its right home. He and his team supported the film not just with resources, but with genuine artistic trust and emotional understanding, allowing it to retain its raw, unpolished honesty. Directing Saali Mohabbat has been both terrifying and liberating terrifying because it demanded emotional vulnerability, and liberating because it allowed me to step outside the boundaries women filmmakers are so often placed within. I am deeply grateful to ZEE5 for championing bold, layered, and thought-provoking cinema, and for bringing this story to audiences who seek something more than surface emotion. And I must also express my heartfelt gratitude to Jio Studios for their belief in meaningful storytelling and their commitment to supporting independent, auteur-driven voices. Jio Studios has consistently encouraged stories that push boundaries, and I’m truly thankful that Saali Mohabbat found a home with partners who share that vision.”Saali Mohabbat will premiere on ZEE5 later this year! Three decades after it first hit theatres, Ram Gopal Varma’s Rangeela is set to return to the big screen this time in a newly remastered 4K HD format. The 1995 romantic drama, starring Aamir Khan, Urmila Matondkar, and Jackie Shroff, will re-release across select theatres on November 28 as part of Ultra Media’s Ultra Rewind initiative. The re-release aims to reintroduce the film’s timeless world of dreams, ambition, and unspoken love to a new generation of moviegoers. Confirming the date, Ultra Media said the restored version will showcase enhanced visuals and sound, offering audiences the chance to experience the film “as it was meant to be seen.”In a statement shared earlier, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma reflected on the film’s enduring relevance: “Rangeela embodied the spirit of aspiration, showing that ordinary people can also dare to dream big. Its success demonstrated that rule-breaking cinema is often the most unforgettable.”CEO of Ultra Media, Sushilkumar Agrawal, had also described Rangeela as “a nostalgic trip back to the golden era of Bollywood,” adding that the restoration ensures “its timeless charm continues to mesmerise audiences for years to come.”Released in 1995, Rangeela became a milestone in Hindi cinema for its vibrant storytelling, stylish choreography, and A. EXCLUSIVE: Shraddha Kapoor dubs for the Hindi version of Disney’s highly awaited animation film Zootopia 2

Shraddha Kapoor owned 2024 with her power-packed performance in Stree 2, the highest grosser of Bollywood to date. Recently, she took the cake at the trailer launch of the 2025 Diwali release Thamma. Thamma belongs to the same universe as Stree 2 and hence, she graced the occasion and impressed fans and her critics in her trademark style. And now, she’s all set to appear in front of the media once again on Saturday, November 8. The mediapersons got an invite earlier today saying that she’ll be present to make a special announcement. The only additional information was that the event is held by Star Studio18. It made the media curious, wondering what could be the announcement. Her next film, Eetha, went on floors recently. It is backed by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and directed by Laxman Utekar of Chhaava (2025) fame. It was assumed that probably Star Studio18 may have come on board for Eetha. However, Bollywood Hungama has learned that the event, which will be held at a multiplex in Mumbai tomorrow, has nothing to do with Eetha. A source told us, “Shraddha Kapoor has dubbed for the Hindi version of Disney’s highly awaited animated film, Zootopia 2. This is the announcement that will be made at the November 8 event.”The source continued, “Shraddha Kapoor has a lovely voice and has probably never dubbed for a Hollywood film before. Moreover, she’s one of the top stars and has a huge fan following among kids and families, who are also the target audience for Zootopia 2. Therefore, they felt that she was the apt choice. Shraddha was on board immediately. She has been a Disney heroine before, in ABCD Any Body Can Dance 2 (2015) and had a wonderful experience of being associated with the brand. As a result, she was too happy to reunite, this time with Walt Disney Animation Studios, for Zootopia 2. Zootopia 2 is the sequel to the 2016 film Zootopia, a story of a rookie police officer rabbit and a con artist fox who team up to uncover a conspiracy involving the disappearance of predators. The film was a blockbuster and globally earned over $1 billion. Interestingly, Zootopia 2 is not the only animated film in Shraddha Kapoor’s pipeline. She is also a part of Choti Stree, which also belongs to the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. Also Read: Shraddha Kapoor starts filming Eetha, Laxman Utekar’s biopic on Tamasha icon Vithabai.

Amol Palekar’s decade-long battle for artistic freedom nears closure as Bombay HC sets final hearing on December 5, 2025

After nearly a decade of pending legal proceedings, the Bombay High Court will finally hear actor-director Amol Palekar’s long-standing petition challenging the mandatory pre-censorship of stage plays and performances. The petition is slated for final hearing on December 5 before a bench comprising Justices Riyaz Chagla and Farhan Dubash. Palekar, now 80 years old, seeks protection of artistic freedom, arguing against the existing requirement under the Bombay Police Act that imposes prior scrutiny of scripts and mandatory certification from the Maharashtra State Performance Scrutiny Board before any play or public performance can be staged. His counsel, Anil Anturkar, told the court, “The petitioner is 85 years old now and wants an outcome, be it positive or negative.” Anturkar emphasized the importance of artistic freedom in the contemporary digital era, pointing out that “there is no censorship of shows and series on OTT platforms,” questioning the logic of continuing the mandatory censorship regime for live performances. The petition specifically contests rules framed under Section 33(1)(wa) of the Bombay Police Act, which authorize police commissioners or superintendents to regulate “places of public amusement” and performances, including traditional tamashas and melas, requiring script scrutiny to safeguard “public order, decency, or morality.”Amol Palekar’s petition argues that such pre-censorship amounts to an unconstitutional curtailment of artistic freedom, stating, “This pre-censorship leads to curtailment of artistic freedom. Because of this, many historic plays have not been performed in their original form.”The Bombay High Court had admitted the plea in 2017 but long delayed its hearing on the merits. The upcoming session on December 5 is expected to bring closure to this critical issue affecting artists and cultural institutions. This case is being closely watched across the theatre community and arts organizations, as a ruling in favor of Palekar could pave the way for greater freedom and creativity in live stage performances in Maharashtra and potentially across India.
