A Democrat furry is running to represent Michigan’s 7th district in the US House of Representatives. 36-year-old Samuel Smeltzer, who calls himself “Elyon Badger,” has made numerous controversial statements on social media and has celebrated the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Smeltzer is an LGBTQ activist, small business owner, and Michigan Army National Guard veteran, according to his campaign webpage. He is running on a platform that includes universal healthcare, legalizing marijuana, building a high-speed railway system, and free public college and trade school. On Bluesky, Smeltzer has advocated for rounding up “every single red hat wearing.
